Perdue's budget includes relief for Grady

Gov. Sonny Perdue's budget, released Jan. 16, promises relief for struggling Grady Memorial Hospital.

The budget proposal increases funding in two major areas -- trauma care and Medicaid reimbursement -- that helped drive Grady into a $55 million deficit last year.

The governor is seeking to add $53 million to his amended fiscal 2008 budget to help pay for trauma care across 15 centers statewide. The money will be used to reimburse physicians, EMS providers and trauma hospitals for uncompensated care.
