"Hospital of the Year" Award Competition

Georgia's community hospitals provide the best in patient care and service to the community. Each year, the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals honors the best of the best through its "Hospital of the Year" awards program.

Member hospitals with outstanding achievements and important community initiatives are encouraged to submit a nomination for these awards. Winners will be announced at the annual fall conference, featured in the GACH Year in Review and our Web site, and promoted to the media.

The "Hospital of the Year" award is aimed at highlighting the impact of member hospitals on individual patients, the health and wellness of Georgians, and the quality of life of their communities, such as:

Supporting direct patient access by providing improved access to underserved populations
Supporting major economic development initiatives
Supporting major quality-of-life initiatives
Providing extraordinary community benefits
Enhance or expand critical health care services to the hospital's community or service area

Submission of Nominations and Eligibility

Hospitals must submit a letter of nomination (maximum of two pages) and no more than five supporting documents – newspaper articles, brochures, videos, posters and commendations. As appropriate, testimonials or endorsement statements from individuals in a position to assess the benefit of a hospital’s program should be included and will be considered. These include patients, local civic leaders, newspaper clips and other documentation.

Award honorees must be a current member of the Alliance with dues paid in full; have 501 (c) (3) or equivalent tax status; and not have won in the previous two years. Nominations for CEO and Hospital of the Year competitions must be submitted by September 1, 2010 in order to be eligible.
